April
We are having some much fun with Toes in Motion.  It's more like a 'movement' than an event.  While folks are certainly excited for the challenge to get physically into better shape, most are more excited to learn of the urban ministry opportunities we provide for participants throughout the year, throughout Atlanta.
But if you're interested in joining the weightloss challenge, simply donate $20 through the link at the top of the page. (Indicate Atlanta Toes in the description line) Send a photo of your feet on the scales directly to Tonya@doornetwork.org.  It serves as proof of your starting weight. Don't worry, we won't identify who's photo is who's.
We will all work on our diets, our exercise and our general health. And on June 15 send another photo. Whoever loses the most, will win!

Atlanta DOOR mission trip praying for meal with 4 teams
March
29 volunteers from three different schools in VA, MI and TN.  Our local food experiment seems to be working.  We fed everyone well and it seemed like – at least some of – the high schoolers we hosted were ready to try something different for a week and consider their relationship to food in terms of their lives as Christians.
It led to some good conversations and new realizations.  One for me was that even if you dump a whole can of baking powder in as you’re making brownies – that’s right, our volunteer read “3 cups” rather than “3 teaspoons” – the brownies actually turn out all right.  They tasted a little salty, but you really couldn’t tell…who knew?
This was a result of what I think is a constant challenge when working with young people…how do we empower and give up control while still making sure things run smoothly and certain things (like reading carefully) don’t fall through the cracks?

We take all the work out of Mission trips to Atlanta. February
We were so excited to be on the campus of Spelman College and Georgia Gwinnett College next week. If the students there are any indication, then we have a very bright future ahead.

September
We are excited to be hosting the DOOR Beloved Community Council as they gather here in Atlanta.  DOOR gathers representatives of each local board to review, pray, listen and guide the work that we do.  No group has shaped DOOR more through the years.

Follow the conversation and find more about us on our facebook page.
