DOOR Chicago has openings to serve and learn in this spring. From February 8 to April 30, 2010 you'll live together with other students from a variety of backgrounds and educational institutions to serve and learn inside both direct service and systematic change of social justice.
Spring 2010 apply to serve and learn in Chicago! Participants will engage in urban ministry by direct service and academic study and discussion. Even if you think you "know Chicago," you probably don't. This intricate midwest city of 77 distinct neighborhoods provides an excellent classroom to explore the gifts of diversity as well as the needs of urban poor, the positive side of urban planning and the negative side of systematic segregation. You'll spend a semester working, studying and learning from urban ministry practioners in the city that coined the phrase "urban ministry." Students may receive credit from an educational institution.
$2,000 covers Chicago tuition, housing, most meals, books and reading materials used and monthly transportation pass. Apply for the Chicago Spring Semester. NOTE: The Application deadline has passed but there is 2-3 positions available. Please contact Krista if you are interested to see if you qualify or in the position is a good match for you.
If you are seeking academic credit, contact Krista Dutt, National Program Director and Chicago City Director for additional information for submission to your institution. The general prospectus is below. Due to the nature of the work both direct and classroom, the semester can be counted toward either academic or internship credit.
