Miami Pack List
Miami weather can be hot and humid or rainy. Be prepared to drink lots of water and to protect yourself from the sun. Jackets are not necessary unless for protection from the rain. Dress will always be casual - shorts/jeans and T-shirts being standard (unless attending a Sunday worship service.) Work clothes will be subject to wear, tear and possible stains. Many of the agencies that DOOR works with do require that all volunteers wear long pants. Pack with this in mind. It’s a good idea to mark your clothes with your name. The following is a suggested list.

NOTES
If attending a local worship service, choose conservative dressy Sunday wear. Most ethnic congregations do not dress casually for worship service.
Two pairs of shoes are recommended- One for work, one for play.
Many agencies require long pants. Please bring at least 2 pair of pants.
Patience will be needed. People may not always be on time and materials may not be available as quickly as expected. If you temporarily run out of things to do, relax, and use the time to get to know the people you are helping. This can become one of the best parts of your experience!
*Remember you are coming to Miami to serve; not be served. Conduct yourselves as guests, and treat everyone you meet with dignity and respect. Take time to get to know the people you are serving, and ask permission before taking pictures.
