    • Welcome to DOOR!

Discovering Opportunities for Outreach and Reflection (DOOR) is a faith-based network of six cities that provides opportunities for service, learning and leadership development within the urban context. We highlight the strengths of our cities, as well as the needs. We believe this is best accomplished through collaboration, mutuality and partnership.

Howland to Fill Interim Miami Position

DOOR is happy to announce that Callie Howland will be serving as the Interim Miami Dwell Director for fall 2014.
DOOR’s Dwell program is for individuals to spend a year living in intentional Christian community while serving in a local agency placement, worshiping in an urban congregation, and reflecting together as a community. DOOR works with Mennonite Mission Network and the Young Adult Volunteers program of Presbyterian Church USA to recruit, place, and host participants in Dwell.
Howland will oversee the Miami Dwell program including placing participants at local agencies, orienting them to Miami, coordinating community building days, and connecting them to support networks.
Howland is a California native and has lived in Miami for three years. After studying psychology at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Calif. she moved to Miami to be a Dweller. While with Dwell she worked at a small private K-12 school deep in the heart of the Little Haiti neighborhood and lived on an urban farm less than a block from the school. Howland fell in love with the city and decided to stay beyond her year with DOOR. She is currently serving as the Youth and Families Director at a local church and has been an active member of the DOOR Miami board since the end of her Dwell year.
